Privacy policy

Effective September 4, 2026. This policy describes the private backup utility and this public information site.

Access and purpose

The utility requests Google's drive.file permission to create and manage its own backup files and folders. It uses file contents and necessary file metadata only to upload, compare, retain versions, verify and restore the owner's selected backups. It does not request general access to the owner's other Drive files.

Storage and sharing

Rclone runs on the owner's computer. Backup contents and filenames are encrypted before transfer to Google Drive. Google stores the encrypted objects and necessary service metadata, such as object sizes and modification times. Authentication tokens and decryption material remain in protected owner-controlled storage; they are not included in ordinary backups or this public site.

Restoration decrypts selected files on the owner's computer. The utility does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising or generalized AI-model training, or share backup contents through this site. Any separate access by an assistant or other tool requires the owner's authorization and is outside this public information site.

Use of Google API information follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Retention, deletion and control

Backups retain replaced versions. Removing a local file does not automatically delete its cloud copy. The owner controls retention and can remove backup objects in Google Drive, including emptying Drive Trash when permanent deletion is intended. Disabling or removing the app's access in Google Account permissions stops future authorized access; it does not itself delete stored backups.

The owner must keep a separate, secure recovery copy of the decryption material. Losing that material can make encrypted backups unrecoverable.

This public site

This site has no sign-in, forms, advertising or added analytics scripts. It does not receive backup files or Google authorization tokens. Cloudflare hosts the static pages and may process connection information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site under its privacy policy.

Questions and changes

The utility's owner is responsible for its operation. Use the support contact displayed on Google's authorization screen for questions about access or deletion. This policy will be updated before the utility introduces materially different uses of Google user data, with renewed authorization where required.
